Through cutting-edge media strategies, ACE combats climate disinformation, flattens the curve of clean energy opposition, increases diverse participation in our democracy, and inspires meaningful action. Our programs engage tens of millions of people annually, mobilizing audiences that traditional climate efforts often overlook.

JOB SUMMARY

The Chief Growth and Data Officer will play a pivotal role in accelerating decarbonization across energy, industry and transportation—spearheading the adoption of clean energy through local siting and permitting campaigns, designing and scaling digital interventions to increase the retail uptake of decarbonized technologies, educating and activating the next generation of clean economy workers, reaching and engaging millions of young voters to increase their participation in our democracy, and working to accelerate the phase out of fossil fuels. This role involves crafting, executing, and refining ACE’s comprehensive growth and data strategies, tailored to dynamically engage with key digital landscapes both nationally, and internationally.

Responsibilities will encompass coordinating a variety of digital marketing efforts including paid digital and programmatic advertising, Out-of-Home (OOH), organic social media, influencer marketing, print, and digital media content creation. The goal is to orchestrate and manage robust digital marketing campaigns across diverse channels and owned subsidiaries. The Chief Growth and Data Officer will further hone strategies to enhance in-list growth, employ retargeting techniques for multiple white-label brands/entities, and utilize digital and social advertising platforms like Meta, TikTok, Twitch, StackAdapt, and YouTube. Innovative marketing tactics will be deployed to optimize outcomes, foster brand loyalty, educate and persuade audiences, and in some cases drive action taking at scale. 

In this capacity, the Chief Growth and Data Officer will be instrumental in bolstering ACE’s advocacy for a carbon-neutral society, promoting rapid and fair transitions to renewable energy in the U.S. and worldwide, and engaging a diverse array of young individuals in democratic processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Vision, Strategy and Scale:
    • Establish and evolve a visionary strategy to broaden, diversify, and enhance ACE's core audiences and their participation both in the U.S. and internationally.
    •  Identify and utilize innovative channels and methods to optimize outreach and engagement effectiveness across all initiatives.
    • Research and refine key strategies using a data-driven, iterative approach to maximize results.
    • Continuously develop innovative methods to effectively use the marketing resources at ACE, focusing on building support for clean energy among rural, non-progressive demographics, youth, and through cutting-edge digital strategies.
    • Proactively monitor trends in both the external and internal environments, planning strategically to swiftly and effectively adapt and advance the transition to clean energy.
  • Brand Elevation and Digital Marketing
    • Assist core team members in enhancing ACE's brand visibility through a combination of organic, earned, and paid media tactics.
    • Develop and implement innovative strategies to engage unconventional audiences, conveying the critical need for immediate climate action and proactively countering misinformation.
    • Forge a forward-looking plan to elevate our digital marketing initiatives to unprecedented levels across new platforms starting in 2025, with an annual budget exceeding $7 million.
    • Manage the development, experimentation, and fine-tuning of digital marketing campaigns to achieve specified objectives and performance benchmarks.
  • Technology and Data: Design, architect and maintain the team's digital marketing tools, data system and platforms. When making decisions, consider  upstream and downstream impacts to all systems. Following is a not so exhaustive list of tools we use currently:
    • Salesforce (central database), Engaging Networks (activism pages/email/database),New Mode, VAN, Twilio (Broadcast Texting), Scale to Win (Peer-to-peer Texting). AirTable/Softr
    • Social media ad networks (Meta, TikTok and Adwords). 
    • Looker Studio for Data Visualization.
    • Google Tag Manager and server side tracking  for conversion tracking 
    • Other tools like Big Query, Hypeauditor, Vimeo, customized Open AI Playground fine tune models, Sprout Social. 
    • AI Models
    • Custom Python API pipes and third party integration tools like Make, Zapier and Stitch.
  • Management and Mentorship: Provide leadership and manage a fast startup digital marketing team that includes teams for:
    • Influencer marketing 
    • Performance marketing
    • Data Systems
    • Web and UX
  • Executive Leadership:
    • Join the Executive Leadership Team at ACE to collaboratively define the organization’s strategic direction alongside the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
    • Manage all aspects of the marketing, digital tools and technology, and communications budgets and spending.
    • Frequently engage with ACE’s funders, major donors, board members, and other key stakeholders to foster the organization's growth and enhance funding opportunities.
  • Collaboration: Ensure cross-departmental application of marketing tools to help grow our persuasion power and list growth, convert our Youth Action Network into socio-political power to speed up the energy transition at scale.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 10 years of experience in digital marketing or digital organizing, with a proven track record of managing both organic and paid social media campaigns.
  • Expertise in developing, overseeing, and assessing advertising campaigns using Meta Ads Manager, TikTok, Google Ads, and programmatic and OOH (Out-of-Home) advertising.
  • Strong expertise in influencer marketing and  marketing across cultures
  • Strong analytical abilities, capable of setting priorities, completing tasks independently, and adhering to deadlines.
  • Advanced data analysis skills, including expert-level proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, familiarity with SQL, and an openness to emerging technology trends.
  • Proficiency with Google Tag Manager, Facebook Pixel, and various event tracking tools to optimize marketing efforts.
  • Independent and motivated self-starter with exceptional organizational skills and a creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Deep understanding of issues important to youth, such as climate change and climate justice, coupled with a commitment to engaging and empowering young people to take action.
 

POSITION DETAILS

  • Annual salary range: $150,000 - 190,000, commensurate with experience
